Routes of silk, silver and gold
Discover a different touristic and cultural route around Spain on the trail of priceless Flemish tapestries woven between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries. These spectacular works of art were highly sought after by kings, nobles and the high clergy, and were a symbol of their power for centuries.

Weaving cloth on a loom is an ancient craft that is documented as far back as early Egyptian times. It became highly developed during the Middle Ages, especially in the seventeen provinces of the Low Countries, which were then under Spanish rule. Today, these provinces make up Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Northern France.
